Alan Brown Masterclass Day

Alan with his first fish
This was a special 70th birthday present from Alan’s good friends Gary and Eileen Dobson, Holy lake near Ballyconnell, County Cavan, Ireland was the chosen venue.
casting
Alan was already skilled in many different styles of fishing but had not done much longer distance feeder work, so this was the chosen method.
It was a beautiful sunny autumn morning with a light westerly wind.
a big hybrid close to 1lb
Packing the window feeder with casters and then baiting up with 3 red maggots on a 12 hook produced a small roach immediately, more roach followed. A switch to sweetcorn produced some larger specimens, but the action had slowed. Another change to 3 casters was much better resulting in a big hybrid and some quality roach.
the window feeder was working well
I left Alan at about 4 pm, still enjoying the wonderful surroundings and still getting a fish every cast.
