Mick Paramore Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
27th June 2014
brilliant catch Mick
This was a special 50th birthday present from Mick’s wife Christine. His son Ben had also come along for the day. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue. Diane the owner had kindly allowed both of them to use keepnets.
Mick’s first fish was a barbel
It was a warm overcast morning with a light westerly wind and a threat of thunderstorms later in the day. I decided that Elm lake would be a good choice.
Ben with his first fish
Both anglers started in the deep margins, loose feeding 4mm hard carp pellets with a 4mm expander on the hook. Ben was the first to catch, Mick also was soon into fish. Skimmers were proving a problem so a switch to a banded 6mm hard pellet helped to produce some bigger fish. Mick switched to a light up in the water rig in the afternoon, loose feeding 4mm pellets with a banded 4mm on the hook and was soon catching F1’s and carp really well.
a 3lb mirror carp
We left the bank at about 4pm, both of them having had one of their best days fishing ever catching close to 90lbs each.

Andrew Eades Masterclass Day Lindholme Lakes
July 2nd 2014
brilliant catch Andrew
This was a special Christmas present from Andrew’s wife Jean and daughter Lucy, who both had also come along for the day. The brilliant Lindholme Lakes near Doncaster was the chosen venue. The owner Neal had kindly allowed Andrew to use a keepnet.
Andrew with his first fish
Pole was the chosen method, loose feeding 4mm hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. Andrew was soon catching a fish every put in a mixture of barbel and skimmers. A switch to fishing up in the water resulted in a good run of F1’s as fish after fish came to the net.
daughter Lucy catches fish but does not like holding them
We left the bank at about 4 pm and I guess Andrew had caught just over 50lbs.

Steve and Finlay Bulbeck Masterclass Day River Yare
15th July 2014
over 22lbs – brilliant catch Finlay
This was a special combined birthday present from Steve’s wife and Finlay’s mother Susan. The wonderful Beauchamp Arms stretch of the River Yare was the chosen venue.
Steve with a 10ozs roach
It was a warm morning with just a light breeze. The river is tidal here and when we arrived had just began to flood.
Finlay’s first fish an 8ozs roach
The pace varies quite considerably, so floats between 2 and 5 grams were needed. Bait was double red maggot with a 14 hook, both anglers were soon into fish, a small ball of groundbait at regular intervals plus loose feeding over the top, on high tide the water was almost still and then it was a fish as soon as the float settled.
We left the bank at about 5pm. Finlay had caught just over 22lbs and Steve about 21lbs.

Tony Sutton Masterclass Day Westwood lakes
26th July 2014
brilliant catch Tony
This was a special fathers day present from all the family, arranged by his daughter Natalie. The wonderful Westwood lakes near Boston in Lincolnshire was the chosen venue.
Tony with his first fish
It was a very warm morning with just a light northerly breeze. Alan the owner had reserved peg 39 on skylark lake for us.
just in the net
Pole was the chosen method, cupping in a big pot of hemp plus a pot of dead maggots and then loose feeding maggots over the top, with double dead red maggot on the hook. Tony was soon catching a fish every put in, barbel at first and then tench, ide and carp. It was nonstop action. It did slow a little in the last hour but then the temperature was close to 30°C.
the carp were taking double maggot
We were lucky to find a friendly angler to take the catch shot and I guess Tony had caught close to 90lbs.

50lbs of big carp

Steve with his first fish
It was a perfect morning, overcast with just a light northerly wind. I decided Elm lake would be a good choice.
just in the net
Pole in the margins was the method, loose feeding 4mm hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. Steve was soon catching carp almost every put in. The action never slowed and by 2pm he had reached his limit on both nets and was returning fish as he caught them. We left the bank at about 4pm, Steve having had one of his best days ever, I guess about 130lbs.
