This was a special birthday present from Mike’s daughter Catherine. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.

It was a warm summer morning with a moderate north westerly wind. The fishery was really busy with most lakes already booked for a big Maver qualifier. Luckily some pegs on 6 islands lake were free.

Pole was the chosen method. Mike started on the bottom at 8mts with a 4mm banded pellet on the hook, loose feeding a few 4mm hard feed carp pellets plus feeding with a pot on the pole. It was a slow start and it took about 15 minutes for the first fish. Carp and barbel followed. A switch to a 4mm expander pellet on the hook was much more productive and a good run of carp followed.

We left the bank at about 4pm, Mike having caught close to 80lbs.

A brilliant catch Colin

This was a special birthday present from Colin’s partner Tracey Tuttle, who also loves to fish and had come along for the day.The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue. It was a cool overcast morning. I decided that Elm Lake with the strong north westerly wind that was blowing would be the most comfortable. Colin chose to fish the pole on the bottom at 7mts, loose feeding 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. A small pot on the pole with 4mm and 2mm pellets was also used to concentrate the fish. He was soon catching well: a mixture of barbel, carp and F1’s. By 1pm he had reached his net limit and was returning fish as he caught them

Traceys favourite way to fish is with the Method Feeder, using a flatbed with a mould. Groundbait was a mixture of soaked pellets and Van Den Eynde Super Krill with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook. It only took about 1 minute for the first bite and by 12 she had reached her net limit, which did not include a 14lb mirror carp which was returned after landing. I took the catch shot and returned the fish. The following 3 hours produced another 50lbs plus of fish.

We left the bank at about 4pm. I am not really sure who had caught the most fish, but both had more than 150lbs.

Mac and Colin had booked me for the day. The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a warm morning but the very strong westerly wind was making it feel cooler than it really was.
Mac wanted to fish Oak lake as it holds a big head of large carp.
Both anglers started in the deep margins at between 5 and 6 mts out, loose feeding with 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm banded pellet on the hook.
Foul hooking was quite a problem for Mac. He had so many fish in his swim. A switch to fishing up in the water solved the problem for a while and produced some good quality F1’s. Colin stayed on the bottom and was catching some really big carp.
We left the bank at about 4pm, Mac having caught about 100lbs and Colin about 130lbs.
