Nigel Letford Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
17th June 2014
50 lbs of quality carp
This was a special Christmas present from Nigel’s wife Claire, as you can see from the pictures he is a very loyal Bob Nudd fan.
Nigel’s first fish a 6lb mirror carp
The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesea in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue. Diane the owner had kindly allowed the use keepnets.
Nigel’s Browning Z8 pole performed well
It was a bright summer morning, but the cool northerly wind was keeping the temperature a little below average for this time of the year.
Nigel slips the net under a good carp
Yew lake holds some good carp and barbel so I decided we would fish there, cupping in 2 pots of 6mm and 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets with a 6mm expander on the hook at about 10 mts out Nigel quickly hooked into a 6lb mirror carp. The fish never really were mad on, but by switching to loose feeding 4mm pellets and using a 4mm expander on the hook the fish kept coming for the rest of the day.
a beautiful mirror carp
I did the catch shots at about 4.30 pm and I guess Nigel had caught just over 100lbs.

Stuart Cox Masterclass Day
June 26th 2014
brilliant silver fish catch Stuart
This was a special 50th birthday present from Stuart’s wife Fran. His long time fishing friend Jeff Rogers had also come along for the day. The venue was the River Bure at Saint Bennets Abbey near Ludham in Norfolk.
Jeff with a 12ozs skimmer
It was a warm morning with a light westerly win. The river is tidal here and as we arrived the water was coming in but did not seem to be rising much. The first hour was spent on the feeder without much success just 2 skimmers, eels were proving a nuisance. A switch to the pole with a 3 gram float, with double red maggot on a 14 hook, throwing in a ball of Van Den Eynde Supercrack roach, laced with casters and maggots every run through was much more successful as Stuart had a good skimmer on his first run through. A couple of big perch followed. Then the tide stopped and began to ebb. It was then a skimmer or roach almost every run through for both anglers. Jeff even hooked and landed a 3lb bream.
We left the bank at about 5pm Stuart had caught 16lbs 12ounces and Jeff 13lbs 10 ounces.

Andrew Clarke and Bob fishing day
30th June 2014
brilliant catch Andrew
This was a special Christmas present form Andrew’s wife Hayley.0 the venue was a club lake in Little Easton near Dunmow, Essex. Andrew requested that he would like me to fish as well. It was a warm summer morning with almost no wind.
Andrew with his first fish
There are 3 lakes on the complex and the first one we tried proved very tough, so we decided to move to the middle lake this was much better. Loose feeding with 4mm hard feed carp pellets with a banded 6mm on the hook to try to avoid the roach this was imposable but they were up to 8ozs and just loved taking pellets.
this is a good fish
Between roach we were catching brown goldfish, crucians and carp. Andrew wanted to try my pole and was soon catching carp up in the water. We took the catch shot at about 5pm and I guess between us we had caught close to 70lbs.
