Dave Farrel Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
20.07.2016
great catch Dave
This was a special birthday present from Dave’s wife Janie. His longtime friend Danny Daniels had also come along for the day.
The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a very hot summer morning with a really warm moderate southerly wind. The fishery was really busy for midweek.I decided to go on Horseshoe Lake.
Method feeder was the chosen tactic. Hookbait was a 5mm banded pellet. It took about 3 casts and Dave hooked into his first fish. Danny also started to catch well. F1’s were feeding well also some tench and skimmers.
We left the bank at about 4.30pm. Dave had caught just over 50lbs of fish and Danny about 30lbs.

Neale Cannon and Paul Panter Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
22.07.2016
brilliant catch Neale
This was a joint present from their family, it was for Paul’s 50th and Neale’s 60th birthdays.
The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a very warm morning with just a light southerly wind. I decided that Elm lake with its big head of barbel and carp would be a good choice.
Both anglers love to fish rod and line so I just attached a .6 gram pole rig to the main line and they fished just off their rod end with a 5mm banded pellet on the hook loose feeding with 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets. The reel clutch was set lightly to prevent any breakoffs.
The fishing was so good that they had both reached their 50lb net limit by midday and were returning fish as they caught them.
We left the bank at about 4pm after some brilliant nonstop action. I guess both of them had caught close to 150lbs each.

Richard Eaton Masterclass Day River Yare
25.07.2016
great catch Richard
This was a special 50th birthday present from Richard’s wife Adie and daughters Lizzie and Mollie.
The Langley Pump stretch of the tidal River Yare in Norfolk was the chosen venue.
It was a warm morning with a moderate westerly wind, which luckily was off our backs.
The river was almost on the bottom of the ebb tide when we started. Casting a feeder to the middle of the river soon produced some skimmers and roach. Then the tide turned and the river started to flow really hard as the tide started to flood. Casting the feeder on a shorter line produced some more roach. A switch to float close in in the last 2 hours and the swim came to life with roach, perch and dace coming every run through.
We left the bank just before 5pm Richard having had a great day catching close to 15lbs of silver fish.

David Simmonds Masterclass Day Twenty Foot Drain
26.07.2016
great catch for the 20ft
David had booked a day with me to improve his skills with the pole, we had already been out last month on a commercial venue, this time we were on the Twenty Foot Drain near March in Cambridgeshire fishing for bream and roach.
It was a warm summer morning with a light Westerly wind blowing down the Drain.
David started just short of the middle at about 11mts it was over 3mts deep cupping in 3 balls of Van Den Eynde Supercup laced with casters and pinkies , with double pinkie on the hook, several small roach and hybrids were caught on the drop, then David hooked and landed a good skimmer about 1lb , after topping up with 3 more balls of groundbait a big bream was hooked and lost at the net, then another about 4lbs was hooked and landed, several more small fish followed but no more bream.
We left the bank at about 3pm and I guess David had caught close to 12 lbs of silverfish.

Tommy Wall Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
28.07.2016
brilliant catch Tommy
This was a special Christmas present from Tommy’s brother in law Simon Shaw, who had also come along for the day.
The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a warm sunny morning with a light westerly wind. Rain showers had been forecast for later in the day.
I decided that we would fish on Cedar lake.
Both anglers adopted the same method, pole at 4 mts in the deep margins, loose feeding with 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets with a banded 6mm pellet on a size 16 hook.
It was an unbelievable day with carp and barbel coming to the net. For most of the time they were both playing fish together. Tommy caught the biggest fish of the day: a 12lb mirror carp which was returned to the water after photographing. By 1 pm the net limits of 50lb each had been reached and the fish were being returned as they were caught.
We left the bank at about 4pm Tommy and Simon had had a brilliant day catching close to 200lbs of fish each.
