Simon Frayne Masterclass Day Grand Union Canal
11.07.2016
brilliant catch Simon
This was a special Christmas present from Simon’s wife Emma and his family. The Globe stretch of the Grand Union Canal near Leighton Buzzard was the chosen venue.
It was a warm morning with a moderate gusty westerly wind. The canal looked in perfect condition well coloured by the boat traffic.
Pole was the chosen method, one line at 9 mts just on the edge of the deeper boat channel, another line at 13mts just up the far shelf. This was fed with chopped worms and casters. The closer line fed with 2 balls of Van Den Eynde Supermatch laced with casters and pinkies.
It was a slow start, just a few small roach over the groundbait on single pinkie. A switch to a small piece of red worm produced the first quality bream. Another switch to double pinkie produced more bream. Topping up both lines was important. The chopped worm line produced a big perch and some more bream in the last hour.
We left the bank at about 5pm Simon having had a great day on the canal catching close to 25lbs of fish.

Andrew Trigg Masterclass Day Fields End Water
12.07.2016
a 3lb chub
This was a special 60th birthday present from Andrew’s wife Gillian and family Vicki, Robyn, Richard and Tom.
Fields End water near Doddington in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue. It was a warm morning with a light Westerly wind with the threat of some heavy showers later.
Pellet waggler was the chosen method, loose feeding with Van Den Eynde 6mm hard feed carp pellets, with a banded 4mm pellet on the hook. After about 5 minutes Andy hooked into his first fish a carp about 3lbs. Then the big chub started to feed and were getting to the bait before the carp. It was an all action day with a mixture of carp and chub coming to the net.
We left the bank at about 4pm. Andy had caught well over 100lbs of chub and carp.

Alan Waller Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
13.07.2016
just part of Alan’s brilliant catch
This was a special 40th wedding anniversary present from Alan’s wife Jackie, who loves to fish and had also come along for the day.
The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a warm morning with a moderate westerly wind. Cedar lake has been producing some good weights of barbel so I decided we would fish there.
Pole at 6mts was the chosen method, loose feeding with 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets and cupping in 6mm pellets with a small pot on the pole every ship out. Hookbait was a 4mm banded pellet.
Alan was catching after about 5 minutes of feeding. Jackie also started to catch well. It was nonstop action as barbel, carp and F1’s were banked. After 2 hours Alan had reached his net limit and was returning fish as he caught them.
We left at about 4pm. I guess Alan had caught close to 150lbs and Jackie about 100lbs.

Richard Stark Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
15.07.2016
brilliant catch Richard
This was a special 40th birthday present from Richard’s wife Jodie. His fishing friend Darryl Skinner had also come along for the day.
The wonderful Decoy lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a warm morning with a moderate westerly wind. I decided we would fish on Elm lake.
Pole at 7 mts was the chosen method, cupping in 4mm Van Den Eynde hard feed carp pellets plus loose feeding 4mm pellets over the top with a banded pellet on the hook.
Both anglers were soon catching really well and had reached their keepnet limit of 50lbs before 1 pm and were returning fish as they caught them.
We left the bank at about 3.30pm. Richard and Darryl had both had a brilliant day catching more than 100lbs of fish each.

Steve Agar Masterclass Day Decoy Lakes
16.07.2016
a great catch all on the method feeder.
This was a special Christmas present from Steve’s wife Joanne, who also loves to fish when she gets the chance and come along for the day.
The wonderful Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire was the chosen venue.
It was a warm summer morning with a moderate westerly wind. Saturdays are always busy but luckily some early pegs on Cedar were available.
Steve chose to fish the method feeder with a banded pellet on the hook. After 3 casts the tip went round and he was into his first carp. Barbel, F1’s and more carp followed. He never stopped smiling and was catching really well.
I set Joanne up with one of my poles, loose feeding close in the deep margins. She also was soon catching well. Banded pellet was the hookbait.
I took the catch shot at about 4pm. Steve had already reached his net limit and had been returning carp as he caught them. I guess he had caught close to 70lbs. Joanne was not using a keepnet and was returning her fish but I still estimate that she had caught well over 50lbs.
